Naira falls at official market
At the black market in Abuja, dealers said they exchanged the currency at N540.00 and sold within the range of N545.00 and N546.00 to a dollar on Friday.

Naira fell significantly against the U.S. dollar at the official market on Friday, after the currency maintained stability in the past two market segments.

The domestic currency exchanged hands with the hard currency at N415.10 to a dollar at the close of business on Friday, data from FMDQ securities exchange windows where forex is officially traded showed.

Naira’s performance on Friday implies a N0.93 or 0.22 per cent depreciation from N414.73 it closed in the last two previous sessions (Wednesday and Thursday).

It experienced an intraday high of N404.57 and a low of N444.00, before closing at N415.10 to a dollar on Friday, recording a foreign exchange turnover of $90.70 million.

At the black market in Abuja, dealers said they exchanged the currency at N540.00 and sold within the range of N545.00 and N546.00 to a dollar on Friday.

EXCHANGE RATE BETWEEN NAIRA AND DOLLAR
The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) regulated forex section, the Naira traded at #432.87 at a US Dollar. Slightly below #432.54 it was sold on September 28 2022.

Nigerian prefer to exchange foreign currency particularly Dollars to Naira, on the black market since the conversion rate is much higher than what the Bank offers.

The Naira and the US Dollars rate is between #740 to a dollar on the black market (know as Aboki fx). On Friday last week the rate was between #735/$1, but it changes on Tuesday morning, 4th October 2022 it represents a depreciation of 0.68%.

Please be aware that the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) does not recognize the parallel market (Black market, Aboki fx) and has advised anybody interested in forex to contact their local Bank first.
