Hence, this is not the age to be in the dark. This is not the age to be financially illiterate. This is not the age to not be informed!
1. Some factors already cause and propagate widespread financial illiteracy in the world. These factors make the situation worse in African countries. These factors, like poverty, lack of access to education, bad attitudes and lack of empowerment of woman are the first set of mountains we're up against at Azaland.
2. Secondly, just like some people benefit from war, there are establishments and fullly entrenched systems that benefit when the people are in the dark regarding financial literacy. Some oppressive regimes and highly capitalist business organisations (employers of labour) would rather profit off people's financial illiteracy and mental situations. Hence, they are using financial illiteracy as weapons for fraud, slavery and even war. Some businesses like Ponzi and soke gambling systems are well crafted to prey on the people's livelihood knowing fully well they are not enlightened. Some even break the laws meant to keep regulating their business and industries. We're staunchly up against such people and establishments. We're coming for you!
Our Arsenal
We have well developed strategies to first of all expose, and then wage war against these two so that financial literacy - which The Azaland Project now regards as a fundamental human right - can develop deeper roots and have positive impacts in the lives of the people.
In Africa, for a start, we have plans to reach out to the people and administer critical personal finance management knowledge and skills which will help them make better financial choices. We have curricula and program of events to get the people's attention so that they could see the financial impacts of some of their daily behaviours and improve.
We have sensitisation systems developed and being redesigned to enlighten the people of the dangers of some seemingly safe financially-impacting systems like gambling industry (now proliferating in Nigeria) unlawfully operating businesses that cheat the people of their means of livelihood because they are not really enlightened.
We intend to call to justice all establishments and all deeply entrenched systems that prey off the people's ignorance and financial illiteracy. We shall call to justice any and all systems and establishments and people who rob the people of their rights and means of livelihood (hereinafter referred to as fraud) by taking advantage of their state of lack of financial literacy.
It amounts to injustice and infringement of fundamental human rights when a person or group of persons or organisations profit off the people's financial ignorance and state of financial illiteracy. If and when it has been established that such people or business organisations have broken the law and cheated the people or their customers or employees, they shall be called to order, sanctioned and called out to set example so that others with same intents can make amends.
We shall empower the people to know their rights.
We shall enlighten employees of their rights.
We shall free the people from all forms of financial bondages which they are subjected to knowingly or unknowingly.
We shall come after all illegal businesses and establishments that profit off the people's ignorance - and in so doing are breaking the law. Many of these are proliferating in Africa for reasons we all know. Modern slavery.
We shall bring knowledge to the people. Knowledge has played critical role in history in the fight against slavery and towards emancipation from all forms of bondages.
Knowledge shall free our people from all the modern shackles of poverty and from those using financial illiteracy as weapons of fraud, slavery and war.
This is a call to freedom!
This is a movement of emancipation!
